Megan Hottman earned her B.A. in Corporate Communications, magna cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate, both from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. In college, Hottman volunteered as a CASA (Court-appointed special advocate). Realizing she wanted to help others as a career, she decided to become a lawyer. During law school, she worked as an intern for a solo practitioner and also for the Douglas County Civil Attorney's Office. These jobs gave her a taste of the profession and more importantly, through her wonderful mentors and teachers, positively oriented her sense of professionalism and responsibility.
After law school, Hottman accepted a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Peggy S. McGraw in Jackson County Circuit Court, Kansas City, Missouri. There, she became familiar with civil, criminal and domestic cases. Hottman accepted a second clerkship in Colorado with the Honorable Jack Berryhill in Jefferson County District Court. His division also enjoyed a mixed docket of civil, criminal and domestic cases. As a judicial law clerk, Hottman was responsible for drafting judicial orders, doing legal research for the judges, and serving as bailiff during jury trials. Serving two different courts provided a wide spectrum of experience and observations for Hottman.
In 2008, Hottman joined a small firm in Boulder, CO. There, she gained valuable experience working on large consumer fraud mass actions, as well as individual personal injury cases.
In early 2010, she opened Hottman Law Office, LLC (aka "TheCyclist-Lawyer.com"). In addition to representing her own clients, she also works as a consultant with several Colorado personal injury firms.

Hottman is licensed in Colorado and Missouri. She is a member of CTLA (Colorado Trial Lawyers' Association) and the Colorado and Boulder Bar Associations.
Hottman, a competitive cyclist, coaches the lawyer-filled cycling group, "Wheels of Justice," helping the members train and prepare for the Courage Classic each July. Hottman Law Office also proudly sponsors a Colorado-based women's cycling team and her father's Kansas-City based cycling team. Additionally, HLO was a sponsor of the 2012 Bicycle Colorado Bike Summit.
Hottman's cycling career highlights include: 2005 Best Amateur, Nature Valley Grand Prix; 2009 Masters Track National Champion; 2010 Colorado Best All-round Rider, women's elite division; 2007 and 2010 Colorado State Time Trial champion; 2x Winner, North Boulder Classic Criterium; 2011 Overall endurance omnium winner, Minnesota FixedGear Classic.
She lives in Golden with her husband Robert, also an avid cyclist, and their three dogs.
